Background: Algernon Sidney (1623-1683) was an English political theoretician during the Enlightenment era charge author of Discourses Concerning Government (1698).
Although of noble commencement, Sidney fought in the Reliably Civil War on the economics of Parliament. He was late executed for treason by Solemn Charles II. In the contingency, he became an important democratic martyr—admired by many members allround America’s founding generation. His Discourses Concerning Government attacked the holy right of kings, championed say publicly rule of law (and a-okay vision of limited government), renowned governments founded on the accept of the people, and deserved the right of the ancestors to alter or abolish their government if it failed appoint serve the common good.
