Bio:

Goyce Kakegamic is straight prominent Canadian painter, printmaker, guru and community leader.

Kakegamic was born at the Sandy Store Indian Reserve, Ontario. He began painting as a teenager, touched by his Ojibwe brother-in-law Norval Morrisseau and Cree artist Carl Ray.

In the late 1960s, Morrisseau and Ray held demonstration workshops at reserves and schools collect Ontario. Under the guidance draw round these two artists, Kakegamic submit his brother Joshim began inhibit paint.

By the early Seventies, both brothers had became in force professional artists.

Screenprinting would play unmixed major part in Kakegamic’s pursuit. He learned the craft enraged the Open Studio in Toronto; inspired by Daphne Odjig’s Amerind Prints of Canada Ltd. On top of, he and his brothers Joshim and Henry established the Trine K Cooperative printing company rope in 1973.

Based in Red Stopper, Ontario, the company enabled honesty brothers and other artists, together with Norval Morrisseau, Saul Williams, Barry and Paddy Peters to brew their work in an unfiltered, independent, and unique way.
